When "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" was announced to be arriving soon, fans of the popular first person shooter game were eager to know if it would be made available in all game consoles. It seems that Nintendo fans would soon be able to get a piece of the action as an official from Activision hinted of the possibility that the popular game would hit Wii U soon.
The rumor that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is headed to the Wii U arose when the video game's website released a statement disclosing that fans of the series could start linking their Nintendo Network ID into the game, said Game Rant. The post led to speculations that the upcoming game would soon hit Wii consoles for more people to experience it.
For the longest time, it was unsure how the "Call of Duty" series would continue given that its recent release, "Call of Duty: Ghosts," was poorly received in the market. This was the last title to get into Nintendo Wii consoles.
While "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" was not released in the Nintendo handheld device, the advanced gameplay and technology in it revived interest in the title which could have made developers consider to launch "Black Ops 3" in consoles including the Wii U, reported Master Herald.
A fan of the series went ahead with the rumors and decided to ask Activision via Twitter if there is any truth to the reports. The support for the company's reply to the question only further fanned the flame.
Activision Support tweeted, "Hey there. Stay tuned for more Wii U releases. ^DL." This response led fans to think that the company is preparing for additional console releases.
Should "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" hit Wii devices, it will not be the first time that a title from the series would be playable in Nintendo console, noted IB Times. The previous title, "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2," was also launched in the Wii U.
However, based on the history of "Call of Duty" titles, the developers usually come up with two different releases for the current and last generation consoles. Hence, the cryptic reply of Activision Support could also point to another title release to be potentially made available for the Wii U and may not necessarily be "Black Ops 3" as the said title is on its way to current gen consoles only.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is set to hit Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 6, 2015.
