'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' Gameplay Update & Release Date: Here's Everything You Need To Know About The Game

Ever since it was announced that "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is coming soon, fans of the CD Projekt RED action role-playing game have been eager to see what adventures await Geralt of Rivia. Now, three years after the previous iteration of the series came out, players would finally be able to get their hands on the title that's due to come out this May.

According to Heavy.com, the upcoming title in "The Witcher" series will bring long hours of thrilling gameplay that would see Geralt fight old and new opponents in search of a child that was the focus of an old "Grand Prophecy."

The game's plot involves an "ashen-haired, living and highly volatile weapon everyone wants to control" child of the prophecy who must be discovered before she gets to the wrong hands. This dangerous child has the potential to bring major destruction that could end the world as they know it.

At the same time, the lead character of the game would get to meet a new army of villains, called the Wild Hunt, and Geralt is the only person who could stop them from further wreaking havoc in their wake.

Another thing fans could expect in the new game is the enormous map that comes with it. The world of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" beats its first two predecessors in size, with it being "30 times larger than the last two games."

PlayStation Lifestyle interviewed senior game designer Damien Monnier regarding its size and he described it as huge.

"You know, that's one of the reasons during interviews now I just say 'massive' because I have no clue. Whenever I try to calculate it I come up with 'f-----g enormous,'" revealed Monnier.

Aside from the map size, Geralt would also come with new powers and abilities to help him fight his opponents. This would include his "witcher-sense" that helps him find hidden things around him.

For the PC version of the game, the developers utilized Microsoft's DirectX 12 graphical API to bring impressive visuals to the new title, reported Venture Capital Post. This would ensure that players get a realistic feel as they plow through the game.

CD Projekt RED also found it fitting to end Geralt's story as a Witcher with the amazing graphics. Senior writer Jakub Szamalek revealed that the third title in the franchise would see the last of Geralt's adventures as a Witcher.

However, this does not mean that the series is done. The company noted that with so many other characters in the series, there could be other potential stories to continue the franchise.

'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" would arrive to PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on May 19.
