During the weekend, fans of Marvel's superhero crew were finally able to see "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" on the big screen. While the story focused on the artificial intelligence villain, it paved the way for the other upcoming films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe including "The Avengers: Infinity Wars," which would finally see Thanos and more of the Infinity Stones.
During the mid-credits scene, it showed the Mad Titan Thanos about to wear the Infinity Gauntlet which was supposed to hold all the six stones. The teaser hinted on what fans of the franchise could expect from the next "Avengers" film.
All the other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe featured a plot that would eventually head to the "Infinity Wars." Thanos wanted to acquire all the Infinity Stones - Time, Space, Reality, Mind, Power, and Soul - to gain control of the universe, noted Cinema Blend.
The first stone to be discovered is the Space Stone or more famously known as the Tesseract. It first appeared in the movie "Captain America: The First Avenger" when Red Skull discovered it in a church in Norway and was brought to Arnim Zola, so that HYDRA could harness its power for their weapons. After it was hidden in the S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters, Loki stole it in "The Avengers" for Thanos in exchange for his Chitauri Army. It has since been hidden in Odin's Treasure Room.
Meanwhile, the Reality Stone first appeared in the film "Thor: The Dark World" when Jane Forster accidentally came into it and was eventually turned to Malekith, the Dark Elf, noted Movie Pilot. The stone's power is more than being a space portal as it also has the capability to turn the whole world into something dark and gloomy. The Asgardians left the stone to Taneleer Tivan, also known as The Collector, for sakefeeping.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" introduced the Power Stone, which both Star-Lord and Ronan The Accuser were looking for. The stone's power is so massive that it could destroy an entire planet. Star-Lord and his crew has since turned it over to the Nova Corps in Xandar to help protect it from those who want to steal and harness its power.
The Mind Stone was formally unveiled in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" with the creation of Vision. However, the first time the stone appeared was in the first "Avengers" film when Thanos handed it to Loki to help him attack Earth with the Chitauri. It is now guarded under the protection of Vision.
Two others, the Soul and Time Stone, have yet to come up in the latter films. However, it is speculated that all six would be complete in time for the "Infinity Wars."
Meanwhile, Marvel Studio chief Kevin Feige revealed that there is more than one Infinity Gauntlet, said Slashfilm. The last time the said gauntlet was seen was in Odin's vault.
However, Feige clarified, "There are two different gloves. That was not Odin's vault that you see at the end."
How and where Thanos might have acquired the other Infinity Gauntlet remain to be seen in the upcoming films from Marvel.
"The Avengers: Infinity Wars 1 & 2" would hit theaters in 2018 and 2019.
