Ever since the mid-credits scene from the latest "Avengers: Age of Ultron" film came out, fans of the comic book adaptation franchise have been eager to see what's next for Thanos and his search for the Infinity Stones. With just the third "Captain America" and "Thor" film scheduled before the "Avengers: Infinity Wars" begins, rumors surfaced that the next gem would appear in "Thor 3: Ragnarok."
While Marvel studio head Kevin Feige revealed that the script for the third installment of "Thor" is not yet complete, it is already underway, reported Venture Capital Post.
The upcoming "Thor 3: Ragnarok" is rumored to be a very important film in the phase three of Marvel films as it is said to further set in place the plans of the Mad Titan Thanos in preparation for the "Infinity Wars," noted Movie Pilot.
Although "Captain America: Civil War" is already scheduled for release, it is highly likely that the movie would be free from Thanos as its setting is on Earth. With that in mind, the only film left from the original Avengers' characters is the third "Thor" film.
Some speculations claimed that Thanos, who put on one piece of the Infinity Gauntlet, would now proceed to go after the stones. His first stop would be Asgard as the Tesseract or Space Stone has been hidden in Odin's vault.
The other stones, such as the Mind Stone, is currently in the possession of Vision, while the Aether or Reality Stone has been stowed away to The Collector for safekeeping. The Power Stone, which Star-Lord and friends found in "Guardians of the Galaxy," has been handed to the Nova Corps in Xandar to protect it.
That leaves the Time Stone and the Soul Stone. Some rumors noted that the last two gems would surface in the third "Thor" film as well as in the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
The rumor is not far-fetched, considering that Thanos is looking for the gems and it is reported that both him and Loki would bring on the apocalyptic event, Ragnarok, to Asgard.
With Loki sitting on the throne disguised as Odin, it could be possible for him to strike another deal with the Mad Titan who would want to get his hands on the stones and perhaps the other gauntlet that is also hidden in Asgard.
However, all these remain rumors until Marvel comes up with an official statement or the movie gets released.
"Thor 3: Ragnarok" is set to come out on November 3, 2017.
