"Call of Duty" will have its newest title up for release later this year, we have learned much about this upcoming game thanks to its unveiling last week.
Activision and Treyarch gave fans a look at the soon-to-arrive game via a new trailer that revealed a dark and gritty future. We see that the game will carry a futuristic theme that focuses on humanity being pushed to the brink and the use of cutting-edge military robotics technology.
Given all that we know about the upcoming title, a new report has shared that it may be that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" may act more as a sequel to Advanced Warfare than a fresh franchise installment.
Warning that the game may be a "disappointment to many loyal fans," Bidnessetc analyzed that with the success of the "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," Activision may be looking to sustain the gains made in the title developed by Sledgehammer.
The publication cited that the recent title surprised audiences as it was able to deliver a new style and direction for the "Call of Duty" product line up.
"The game managed to completely alter the COD formula. While staying loyal to its roots, Advance Warfare was much faster, futuristic and more accessible than previous installments. The game took ideas from some very successful FPS games, but all in all, it managed to provide a fun and refreshing feel.
Advance Warfare, was successful among reviewers and scores were much higher than that of Ghosts. The most common praise was regarding the campaign, which featured an amazing story, along with unmatchable voice acting from Kevin Spacey. Many people liked the exo suits and the mobility that came with them. There was a lot of praise on how the multiplayer aspect discouraged unsporting gameplay techniques, like camping and quick scoping."
It expects Activision to play it safe and build on the positive points of Advanced Warfare by carrying it over to the new title currently in Treyarch's hands. With a time stamp set 50 years in the future, 2065, "Black Ops 3" may have a lot of Advanced Warfare features that will make gameplay seamless for players.
With this in mind, it may be that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" may turn out to be a sequel of sorts.
