Another treasure hunting adventure is underway as a Lucasfilm executive has confirmed that Harrison Ford's popular franchise is getting yet another sequel.
According to Variety, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy the company is in talks about making a new "Indiana Jones" movie.
Bruce Handy of the publication spoke to Kennedy who provided details regarding the 2012 deal between Disney and Lucasfilm.
"In buying the company, Disney also got rights, for better or worse, to less-storied Lucasfilm properties, among them Willow and Radioland Murders. A bigger prize is the Indiana Jones franchise. Kennedy confirmed rumors that another Indy movie 'will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I'm not quite sure. We haven't started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it'."
Last year, Disney chairman Alan Horn spoke about the possibility of another movie but there was nothing much to say, "We haven't done anything," he revealed and continued, "We don't have a story. We need a story."
Details about the movie haven't been confirmed and as it stands no information has been provided on who could possibly star in the expected film.
Harrison Ford, 72, is the original franchise star who last stared in 2008's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" alongside actor Shia LeBeouf, who was expected to take over the franchise.
Back in 2013, Ford told the Daily Telegraph that he'd be open to play Jones one more time.
"We've seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it's perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn't necessarily have to kick as much ass," said the actor.
"To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do."
According to a new report by Deadline (via The Verge), Steven Spielberg is interested in directing the movie and "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor Chris Pratt is being eyed as the lead actor. In addition to Pratt's name, Latino-Review has also shared that Hollywood actor Bradley Cooper is another contender for the action-adventure flick.
However, given that development of the film is in the early stages, it could be at least 2-3 years before a film is released. A script hasn't been written so casting decisions and official announcements may still be a while away.
Stay tuned for more.
