The long-awaited sequel to popular superhero animated film "The Incredibles" has been confirmed and new reports are circulating regarding the film's storyline and estimated trailer reveal.
Word around the internet is that a trailer could be launched as early as mid-2015 but according to an online source, the news was generated by fans and within Pixar, there is no word on a trailer. As it stands, no official release date has been given or cast actors tied to the film.
Disney confirmed early 2014 that the second installment is a go but a year later, no update has been given until three weeks ago. The Independent reported that Brad Bird, the writer-director for the original film "The Incredibles" confirmed that he has begun work on the scrip for the much-awaited sequel to the 2004 hit.
I'm just starting to write it, so we'll see what happens," said Bird to NPR (via Independent), who revealed that the screenplay is "percolating" and there are piracy concerns.
"It's very difficult nowadays because everyone has a device with which they can ruin your movie," he continued. "They print things on paper so that nobody can copy them, but they also make them impossible to read when you're on the set."
The first film had a voice cast that included Samuel L. Jackson, John Ratzenberger, Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson but it remains to be seen who will be returning for the sequel. However, Marvel actor Jackson has hinted that his character, Frozone, may be coming back.
"Every time I run into Brad he always tells me Frozone is part of what's going on, so I have to believe that," teased the actor to Digital Spy a year ago. "I guess they could be The Incredibles without Frozone, but I think Frozone would be a wonderful addition to what's already there. I'm just looking forward to seeing what Jack-Jack turned into," he admitted.
"Incredibles 2" Plot Details
Jackson may get his wish about learning about Jack-Jack's future. As reported earlier, the storyline of the upcoming flick could feature the kids of Mr. Incredible and his wife, Elastigirl. Bird is reportedly penning a script that will follow the crime-busting husband and wife duo passing on their crime-fighting responsibilities to their kids, Dash, Violet and Jack-Jack.
The film is rumored to be released sometime in 2017 or 2018.
