Apple's virtual assistant Siri is reportedly getting a facelift for the upcoming iOS 9. With changes in Siri's design being introduced in the new Apple Watch, 9to5Mac is reporting that similar changes will be unveiled in Apple's iOS 9 for iPhone and iPad.
Currently, Siri's appearance in mobile devices is very basic with a classic black-and-white theme but the iOS 9 "Monarch" will allegedly be infused with more color, like the version currently on Apple's first wearable technology.
"Apple is also turning full attention to polishing up iOS 9 'Monarch' ahead of its WWDC introduction, which sources now say will include a redesigned Siri application that closely mimics the more colorful user interface of Siri on the Apple Watch. We're also told that the new release has a default wallpaper made up of a blue and green color scheme. Apple has also been working overtime on major security improvements. We'll have more details on Apple's plans for WWDC..."
Siri was first introduced with the Apple iPhone 4S which has been enhanced over the years but CNet notes that with the developments made by its rivals, namely Google Now and Microsoft's Cortana, the Cupertino-based company needs to step up its game.
The iOS 9 is expected to be unveiled during the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to be held June 8 to 12 in San Francisco.
TechRadar reports that following the unveiling of the iOS 9, registered Apple developers will most likely be able to download the software immediately. There may also be a public beta for the system given all the bugs and problems the iOS 8 encountered upon release last year. Following Apple's iOS update timeline, the full blown OS ready for public consumption will probably be available by September, around the time the newest smartphone is released.
Relatedly, while the iOS 9 is months away, the newest update set to hit Apple products would be the iOS 8.4 which will come with Apple's new music streaming service but per ValueWalk, the Beats Music streaming service is still ironing out details on deals and thus, might not be ready for a June launch.
More updates to come.
