'Samsung Galaxy Note 5' Edge & News: Apple Watch Rival Launching With Newest Note? Yes, Tech In Development [Rumors]

The sales of the Apple Watch began last month and even as the wearable technology begins at $350 and sells as high as $17,000, pre-order sales have been off the charts.

There is speculation that rival company, Samsung, has got an answer for the Apple Watch in the works. In a new report by SamMobile, a round-faced smartwatch, dubbed as "Gear A," is set to be released during the second half of the year, alongside the next-generation Galaxy Note.

The watch -- codenamed "Orbis" -- will be Samsung's first round watch and is speculated to bring a new interaction method with the use of a rotating bezel ring. While a release date has never been revealed, the tech was rumored to be set for a summer launch, but apparently has been delayed.

The publication reported that the delay could be attributed to Samsung's careful reassessment of their 2015 product releases. This isn't the company's first smartwatch, rather, it's their seventh with most watches released within months of each other last year.

The Apple Watch has three collections, the aluminium sport edition, stainless steel "Watch" collection and the most luxurious, the gold Watch Edition. Both collections have two size options, a 38mm and a larger 42mm.

"Gear A" Specs and Rumors

With regards to features, BGR recalled that per earlier speculation, "Gear A will be equipped with a 14nm Exynos 7420 chip, crown-shaped power button, rotating bezel ring and wireless charging capabilities. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon will all reportedly carry 3G models of the watch."

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Much like the previous release of the Galaxy Note, there are suppose to be two models, the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Note 5 Edge.

Some of the rumored features that will come with the phablet include (via SlashGear) include a 1440x2560 pixel Super AMOLED display (also rumored to be 4K), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor or its equivalent EXYNOS version. The RAM is believed to be 3GB with a 3220 mAh battery and expandable memory. The two cameras, front and rear will have 8-MP and 13-MP, respectively and come with its standard S Pen.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Note 5 Edge are expected to be launched during the 2015 IFA to be held on Sept. 4 to 9 in Berlin.
