'Samsung Galaxy Tab S2' Release Date 2015: Tablet Leaked! 9.7-inch Design Revealed [Rumors]

An image of what is said to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 has just hit the web and shows off the dimensions of the upcoming tablet.

The images hit the web courtesy of OnLeaks (via Phone Arena) indicate that the full-sized 9.7-inch tablet will be thinner than Apple's iPad Air 2 (6.1mm) with measurements falling between 5.5mm to 5.9mm. The site notes that the Galaxy Tab S2 has a design that follows the successful Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone.

According to SamMobile, while details of the tablet have been mostly rumors, Samsung "accidentally" confirmed the existent of the upcoming device through the official changelog app of the Hancom Office Show 2014.

The changelog update to claim that the newest version of the app will support the Galaxy Tab S2.

Other rumored specs of the upcoming tablet include a 9.7-inch AMOLED display with a 2048 x 1536 resolution. The South Korean firm is rumored to have a 4:3 aspect ration and will be powered with a 64-bit octa-core CPU. The Tab S2 is expected to come with a 32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, Android 5.0 pre-installed OS with WiFi/4G LTE capabilities.

Additionally, per previous reports, it's believed that like the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S6 smartphones, the Tab S2 will have two size variants, the Galaxy S2 8.0 and S2 9.7.

"According to the latest information, there will be four variants of the upcoming high-end tablet - Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + LTE variants of the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 - and all of them will be announced in June, just like the original Galaxy Tab S. These new tablets will be released worldwide, including the US, Canada, European markets, China, Latin America, Hong Kong, Korea, and India."

The tablets are expected to very lightweight. The 8-inch variant could come in at 260 grams while the slightly larger device would weigh a bit heaver at 407 grams.

The Galaxy Tab S2 is expected to be announced sometime next month, in June 2015. With the rumored release date coming up, it's expected more information will come to light in the coming weeks. TechRadar reports that the timeline could be tied in with Samsung's aim to take some of the market share away from Apple.
