"Bad Blood" Song History
There are rumors over the real reason that "Bad Blood" was written. Mail Online recalled how earlier reports indicated Swift's song is about her falling out with former friend and fellow popstar Katy Perry.
The 25-year-old blonde spoke to Rolling Stones about the track and confirmed it was about an unnamed female nemesis.
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," disclosed the singer, per Us Magazine. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?' [Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy!"
Immediately after the release of the story, the "Roar" singer made a "Mean Girl" reference over Twitter: "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."
Regardless if the song is about Perry or some other pop singer, over the past few years, Swift has armed herself with a group of powerful and positive female celebrity friends.
In an interview with Time, the country-turned-pop-singer spoke about her new friendships in an inspired way.
"I surround myself with smart, beautiful, passionate, driven, ambitious women," she said (via SMH). "Other women who are killing it should motivate you, thrill you, challenge you and inspire you rather than threaten you and make you feel like you're immediately being compared to them."
Swift will play the role of Catastrophe in the music video directed by Joseph Khan.
