As fans eagerly await the conclusion to "The Hunger Games" franchise, there is speculation that the first trailer of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" will be released by May 22.
With a few months remaining until the release of the film, according to an estimate by The ProjectionList, the first trailer is tipped to be unveiled on May 22. Earlier, the trailer was rumored to be launching alongside Blake Lively's "Age of Adeline" which never materialized.
The video is expected to provide fans with an idea of what to expect as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) and Peeta Mallark (Josh Hutcherson) take on the Capitol.
Speaking with MTV News, director Francis Lawrence described the upcoming blockbuster as "a real war movie," and will be very different from the first part released in November. The audience will see fired-up Katniss who takes on the role as the symbol of the resistance.
"Katniss is still messed up from the attack, and Peeta is definitely still messed up... But because of all of this, Katniss is now fired up in a new way. In 'Mockingjay - Part 1′ she was at a real low point. She was in hiding, and sidelined a bit, and being manipulated by others. This is like, she's taking charge again."
He added that the film is "thematically different" and will have an entirely different feel when compared to its predecessor.
"['Mockingjay - Part 1′] was about the manipulation of media and propaganda, and this one is a real war movie. Very quickly, we're getting out from the confines of District 13 and back out into the rest of Panem, including the Capitol. It's a very different kind of landscape."
"Hunger Games" fan site Jabber Jays reports a Catrett Lock Casting has put out a call for actors for an untitled film in Atlanta, believed to be for "Mockingjay Part 2." The casting call dates the work will happen sometime between June 6 to 8. Reshoots were said to be scheduled for June 5 to 7 making it possible that the call for actors is related to the filming of the movie's epilogue.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" hits theaters on November 20.
