Rockets vs. Warriors Score & Recap: Warriors Win Over Rockets in Game 1, Leads 1-0 in West Finals Series

Newly crowned NBA MVP Stephen Curry led his Golden State Warriors against MVP honors runner up James Harden and the Houston Rockets to take the Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals held Tuesday.

The two teams had completely different experiences heading to the West Finals; The Warriors swept their first round match up but suffered setbacks in the semis. After losing two of the first three games, Golden State rallied behind Stephen Curry to take the series in three straight wins, recalled a SBNation.com report.

Houston, on the other hand, bounced back from a three to one game deficit in a seven game series. Fans were at the edge of their seats all season especially during the pivotal Game 6 against semi finals rival Los Angeles Clippers which paved the way for an epic Game 7.

Western Finals Game 1 Results

In the Warriors' first Conference Finals appearance since 1976, the Warrior turned to their superstar to bring home the Game 1 win. SB Nation reported that the 27-year-old point guard carried the team to a 110-106 victory.

The newly-minted MVP proved to be unstoppable as he blew up from the three point area and orchestrated the Warriors offense. Curry put up 34 points including a buzzer beating three pointer to push the Warriors lead to nine at the end of the third quarter. In the end, the Warriors proved to be too much for the James Harden and the Rockets.

In addition to Curry's offense, there were four Warriors who scorred in double figures, noted CSN BayArea. They include Shaun Livingston (18 points), Klay Thompson (15 points), Harrison Barnes (14 points) and Draymond Green (13 points).

Another successful area was the Warrior's defense. The publication added that "the Warriors held the Rockets to 42.2 percent shooting over the final three quarters to post a 110-106 victory."

Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday (6 p.m. PDT) at the Oracle Arena.
