'Pitch Perfect 2' Star Rebel Wilson Responds Name & Age-Lying Rumors [Details Here]

We've all heard the saying, "Age ain't nothing but a number" but when you're a big Hollywood star, even the smallest things can have big effects.

Rebel Wilson, the star of "Pitch Perfect 2", has been caught in a lie after it was reported that the funny lady is actually 35 despite claiming to be 29 years old. According to a report by the Sydney Morning Herald, records of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission have confirmed Rebel, whose real name is actually Melanie Elizabeth Bownds, was born in 1980.

For her part, she maintains her age as 29 and her name has always been Rebel.

The "Bridesmaid" actress has responded to the reports by shrugging it off, having a laugh and basically announcing to the world, I don't care.

Rather than letting all the attention upset her, Wilson responded took to social media to mock the story and all the controversy it has brought. In two simple tweets, she managed to make all her fans laugh once again.

"OMG I'm actually a 100 year old mermaid formerly known as 'CC Chalice' ....thanks shady Australian press for your tall poppy syndrome x...Okay but all jokes aside now...my real name is Fat Patricia x."

While this may be an issue for some, E! Online defended the actress by pointing out that Hollywood has a specific culture that makes aging a sensitive topic. Her actions may be a result of pop culture pressure and an overall system that is full of stereotypes.

It did note that it was a fib that wouldn't have held up long given today's world of easy access to information. However, it does pose the question, "isn't revealing her age each woman's choice to make?"

Wilson stars in the newly released "Pitch Perfect 2" which dominated during its debut weekend, beating out Charlize Theron and Tom Hard's "Mad Max: Fury Road."
