The 1975 Break Up? Matty Healy Posts Cryptic Message on Social Media, Band's Accounts Deleted

After Matthew Healy, also referred to as Matty, lead vocalist of the band The 1975, posted a cryptic message on his social media account yesterday, fans are now wondering if the group is going to break up. Healy's Twitter and Instagram posts showed a comic strip that seemed to suggest that the band is either going to break up or going to go on break for a while.

The comic strip included a statement that says, "The hardest part of any relationship is to say 'goodbye.' As much as we might like things to stay the same, change is an inevitable part of life. We can't simply go on forever - always staying the same, never evolving. So we must leave, with a parting 'we love you' - we are already gone." The original post can no longer be seen in Healey's Twitter account since it seems all the band members' social media accounts were deleted or deactivated as of writing, but the Digital Spy was able to take a screenshot of the said post. The supposed deletion of the band's social media accounts is also reportedly probably the reason why no one from the band clarified Healey's previous post.

According to The Guardian, after Healey posted the cryptic message, fans from around the globe expressed their confusion, sadness and dismay on the possibility of the band breaking up. However, other fans reportedly think that this is not the end for the band and speculate that it's just going to evolve and is heading for a new chapter. Moreover, some speculated that the band was just teasing their fans into thinking that they may break up soon.

Some fans also feel that a breakup seems unlikely because Healey supposedly hinted last January about the band's second album when he posted a blurred photo on Instagram. He also supposedly said that the album will be released next year. The Guardian reportedly tried to contact Healey about the recent post, but the singer apparently just replied, "No comment."

The UK-based group, The 1975, was originally formed in 2002, when the members met in school. The group eventually became famous for their ethereal alt-rock music that manages to combine different youthful themes like sex and love. In 2012, they released their first EP "Facedown," with the lead track titled "The City." A year after, they released their first self-titled album.
