Bruce Jenner shocked the world with his recent appearance in this month's issue of Vanity Fair where he debuted as Caitlyn Jenner, The Verge reports. This is Jenner's first public appearance after completing her facial feminization procedures, which is part of her gender transition. The shots were done by famed photographer Annie Leibovits in Jenner's Malibu home.
In the 22-page feature of the magazine, Jenner spoke to Vanity Fair editor, Buzz Bissinger, about her emotional journey in changing her gender. Jenner even told Bissinger that she suffered a panic attack after going through the 10-hour facial feminization surgery last March. They also talked about Jenner's family, most especially her children, from Bruce's two former marriages. Jenner openly acknowledged the mistakes she has done being Bruce and hopes that her new persona will be a better person.
For Jenner's children with Kris Jenner, the issue of her gender transition was no big deal. They said that they were already aware of their father's identity even before he had the chance to tell them about the planned transition. Even if they have accepted the change in their father, the Jenner children refused to participate in her recent documentary series for the E! network that is set to debut this summer. Jenner was said to be hurt and disappointed over it, but she has reportedly come to accept their decision.
For Vanity Fair, this issue was a result of months of planning and also negotiations. Mashable reports that Vanity Fair made some intense security practices to keep the high-profile issue from leaking. However, the precautions only reportedly worked to some degree. While the photos and also the story were not leaked, there were still some reports that came up, saying that Jenner would be appearing on the said cover.
Caitlyn Jenner, who was born as William Bruce Jenner, was one of the most beloved American former track and field athletes who won a gold medal in the 1976 Summer Olympics. Bruce Jenner was previously married three times, one of which was with the now famous reality star Kris Jenner. After their divorce in 2015, Jenner came out in an interview saying that he is a woman.
