Tracy Morgan Interview: Comedian Says He's at 75%, But He'll 'Never Fully Recover,' Doctor Says

A year after the car accident, Tracy Morgan's doctor says that the comedian is 75 percent healed but may never fully recover. In an interview with Morgan's doctor, Dr. Brian Greenwald, by The Daily News, he said that he could not say when Morgan will fully recover. The doctor added that he and his team are doing everything to help the comedian.

On Monday, Morgan appeared in Today to break his silence a year after the crash. He was seen holding a cane in one hand while seated. According to the comedian, he doesn't remember the accident and only recalls waking up and seeing his family beside him. He talked about his healing and how soon enough he thinks he will come back and make people laugh again, to which Morgan said he's at 75 percent recovery. He also remembered his friend McNair and said that his injuries may get well, but the loss of his friend "will never heal."

The car accident happened last year when Morgan and a few friends were going home from a performance and the limousine that they were riding was rear-ended by a Walmart Truck. The truck driver named Kevin Roper has already been charged with vehicular homicide and assault by auto. The driver was reportedly going 65 miles per hour when he smashed into the limo.

The accident claimed the life of Morgan's friend and fellow comedian James McNair, who died in a coma two weeks after the accident. Two other passengers were injured badly from the collision. Two weeks after the crash, Morgan was transferred to JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute and was treated for more than a month before he was sent back home. He is reportedly continuing his outpatient therapy in the hopes to get better eventually.
