Microsoft WiFi App To Provide Internet Access For Mobile And PC Users

Tech giant Microsoft is reportedly developing a new application that will allow mobile and desktop computer users enjoy trouble-free Internet access. The new app is called "Microsoft Wifi," which was built to make WiFi access easier for all Internet users across the globe.

A Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed on Monday in a Venturebeat report that the company is developing the wireless fidelity application. "We can confirm that we are working on a new service, called Microsoft WiFi, that will bring hassle-free Wi-Fi to millions," the spokesperson said, as quoted in the report.

However, prior to Microsoft's confirmation this week, a leaked report of the Microsoft WiFi has surfaced in various social media sites, and a website dedicated to the said Microsoft WiFi app was also spotted.

The project is reportedly Microsoft's move to intensify its presence in the mobile application arena. The app is intended to allow Internet users to stay and be productive online. Microsoft did not disclose other details about the ongoing project; however, the company said that more details will be released as soon as all information is readily available.

Microsoft WiFi will reportedly be rolled out to Windows, Android, iOS, Mac and PC platforms. Once Microsoft WiFi goes live, it will allow users to log in using their Skype account credentials and connect to global Internet hotspots. The company is targeting to tap 10 million WiFi global hotspots in various countries across the globe via Microsoft's Skype WiFi. According to Trusted Reviews, Microsoft WiFi will also allow users to connect to other third party WiFi service providers such as The Cloud or BT WiFi.

Microsoft WiFi is perceived to share the same business model with that of the Skype WiFi with its "pay-as-you-go" type of service that will enable Internet users to have Internet access everywhere and anywhere. Unfortunately, the service will only be reportedly available at launch to Skype WiFi subscribers, employee of organizations affiliated with Microsoft 365 for Enterprise, and Microsoft customers who received a WiFi special offer.
