ABC recently introduced a new series titled "The Whispers," which was immediately embraced by viewers. According to Variety, the series averaged a 1.5 rating among adults aged 18 to 49 or 5.7 million viewers overall during its 10 p.m. slot."The Whispers," which chronicles the lives of kids who communicate with friends that only they can see, also received high ratings during its second hour.
According to the same publication, the new series could greatly benefit from ABC's recent promo telecast of the NBC finals, which will kick off this Thursday. Meanwhile, "The Whispers" cast member Lily Rabe, who plays the role of FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan, dished on what fans can expect from the series.
On "The Whispers," Rabe's character Claire will be the one in charge of uncovering the mysteries of Drill, the imaginary entity that kids see and talk to. In an interview with Vulture, Rabe talked about the pilot episode and said that the scenes from that particular episode could immediately get under the audience's skin.
"With that scene, it was a continuation of that kind of incredible, specific tone where there's nothing gory or explicit, it's not completely clear what's wrong, but you know that something is just wrong. The compass is tilted. I always find that very compelling. It quickens your heart rate a little," she said.
When asked whether or not she could divulge details about Drill's character, Rabe said that unfortunately she is locked down and cannot say much.
"There's so many things I'm not allowed to say. But I will say this: You learn a lot very quickly. It's not one of those things where you have to wait and wait and wait to get more information. Soon enough there will be so much more to talk about," she explained.
"The Whispers" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
