ASUS Laptop Reviews: ROG G501 Price, Battery Life, Release Date And More

ASUS has successfully introduced a whole line of products, specifically its gaming laptops, that showcase the capability of Nvidia's new frame-synching G-Sync technology. One of these is the new ROG G501.

According to a report from techradar.com, ROG G501 is an ulta-thin laptop designed for gamers that boasts an Intel Core i7 CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 900 series graphics, and the company's Hyper Cool technology that regulates the unit's temperature even under heavy load.

According to engadget.com, this version has pre-installed Windows 8.1 and a screen that measures 15.6 inches with 4K/UHD display. For connectivity, there are three USB 3.0 ports as well as a Thunderbolt connection.

The laptop has a RAM of 12GB (1x4096MB + 1x8192MB)- DDR3, 1600Mhz. While it has no optical drive, it has a HDD/SSD Hitachi Travelstar Z5K 1000 (1 TB 5400 rpm) to cover all storage needs. The battery is a 4 cell 60Wh pack system weighing 1999 grams.

LaptopMedia.com put the G501 through the test using games such as "Mortal Kombat," "F1" and "Tombraider." The laptop reportedly passed with flying colors, especially when it came to the temperature generated by the games. The system was cooled by a system of independent fans and copper heat sinks that properly manage the heat generated by the games. On the average, the CPU temperature was between 41 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius while the cooling fans spun between 2000 to 300 revolutions per minute. With the thin chassis, the system was reportedly able to control the heat without diminishing the capacity of the system.
