The recent dismissal of UT men's basketball coach Donnie Tyndall was just as surprising for everyone, which resulted in the rushed listing of Tyndall's home in Knoxville for $1,895,000. The home was purchased for $1.7 million just last year.
The home is located in the upscale neighborhood of Fortress Lane and has a floor area of 8,556 square feet. It overlooks Fort Loudoun Lake and has five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two half baths. It also has a three-car garage.
According to Realtor, the listing for the house stated, "Basketball hoop not included." It also provided a positive description of the house: "The lakeside retreat seems like a perfect spot to sip some lemonade and forget all your troubles. Alas, perhaps not even the quiet comfort of the residence could help the 44 year old basketball lifer." The review, penned by Claudine Zap, ended with, "At least coach (Tyndall) made one good call during his tumultuous time in Tennessee, purchasing this prime piece of real estate."
While many thought Tyndall would usher in a new era of volunteers basketball in the University of Tennessee, this was not what played out last March. In a report from the Tennessean, Tyndall was terminated as UT's men's basketball head coach after he was found guilty of violating NCAA guidelines during his tenure as coach of Southern Mississippi. He was charged with penalties.
Tennessee director of athletics Dave Hart said in a statement quoted by realtytoday.com, "It is disappointing that we have to take this action. It is highly likely that coach Tyndall will face significant penalties at the conclusion of the NCAA's infractions process. We believe that this decision is in the best interests of the University of Tennessee."
