Playstation 4 Update: New Models Leaked, 1 TB Hard Drive Spotted

Two new Playstation 4 models are reportedly set to be released by Sony, with one found to have a 1 TB hard drive. IGN reports that the information about the new PS4 models were spotted on the site of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Dual Shockers was the one to spot the documents, which, according to the site, revealed the model numbers of the new PS4 models as CUH-1215A and CUH-1215B. The former reportedly features the original 500 GB hard drive while the latter boasts the newly expanded hard drive with 1 TB of space.

Both models are reportedly basically cut from the same mold, with only the size of the hard drive as their main difference. No redesign was apparently made as far as the consoles' outside look is concerned, unlike in the case of the PS3 Slim and PS3 Super Slim, which featured a full console redesign.

According to IGN, as compared to the previous models, one of the most significant changes made to the PS4 is the consoles' power source, which is now 230 watts and was previously 250 watts. A change in the amperage was also noted; the previous 2.5-1.15 amps is now 2.3-0.95 amps. Additionally, the weight was reportedly reduced from 2.8 kg to 2.5 kg, the reason for which is still unknown, according to the site.

So far, Sony has not yet confirmed the two new models that were leaked, but details on the new consoles may reportedly be revealed in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conference, which will be held on June 16 to 18.
