Aquaman and DC Universe fans unite!
James Wan, the creative genius behind the massively successful, Furious 7, recently closed a deal with Warner Bros. to go behind the camera and direct the much-awaited superhero film, Aquaman.
But wait, there's more!
The famed director is also set to direct the hit mecha anime, Robotech, and the horror blockbuster sequel, The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Experiment for New Line, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Looks like the 38-year-old Insidious director has a lot on his plate...
In regards to being chosen to direct the beloved DC hero, Warner Bros Studio President, Greg Silverman, said, "The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James's span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material."
Aquaman's film's script will be written by Kurt Johnstad, known for the hard-hitting 300 film. It will also be produced by The Dark Knight Producer Charles Roven and power-couple, Deborah (300 Producer) and Zack Synder (300, Man of Steel Director).
Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones' Khal Drogo) will portray Aquaman and will make his first appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, scheduled for release in 2016. The underwater-breathing superhero will be part of Warner Bros' Justice League films.
The highly-anticipated flick will illustrate Aquaman as the ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis caught in between the struggle of his own people ready to take over the surface and the land dwellers who seemed to not care about the environment.
Aquaman is set to hit the theatres in 2018, IGN reports. DC die-hards and comic fans (and Momoa fans, of course), don't forget to add this to your must-watch list!
