'Pretty Little Liars' Season 6 Recap, Spoilers: Episode 1 Gets Low Ratings

The ABC Family's first episode of the sixth season of the TV series "Pretty Little Liars" was not what the network has hoped for as its premiere garned low ratings. Last night's episode titled "Game On, Charles" started with the girls escaping out the bunker as they did at the end of the previous season.

According to the Design and Trend's recap of the episode, the girls, along with Mona, rescued another prisoner named Sara Harvey. In an attempt to escape the creepy dollhouse of Charles DiLaurentis, the girls decided to make a plot against Big "A." However, the plan failed and they were eventually captured by Charles and left them out in the cold without food and water.

After a few hours, Charles instructed Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer to go back to their respective rooms in the dollhouse where a surprise would be waiting for them. Upon entering the room, the girls all screamed after seeing something unpleasant.

Meanwhile, Alison, Toby, Ezra and Caleb are trying their best to look for the four girls who have been missing for a month already. Back in the dollhouse, Spencer came up with an escape plan, but in order for it to succeed, they had to burn all Charles' belongings. Around the same time, Alison returned to the dollhouse, which confused Charles, who had to make a decision whether he will keep his prisoners or rescue his belongings instead.

In the end, Charles chose to save his possessions, eventually letting his prisoners escape. Unfortunately, the police did not find Charles but was able to recue another captive named Sara, whose story will be revealed in the next episodes.

"Pretty Little Liars" Season 6 premiere was down 13 percent in total viewership compared to Season 5's first episode last year. According to Deadline, "Pretty Little Liars" Season 6 Episode 1 turned out to be the least-watched premiere in the show's history. The previous record was 2.47 million, which was the rating for its very first episode of Season 1 last March 21, 2011. The episode was also down 10 percent compared to the Season 4 finale that was aired last March 24.
