The "Great Escape Tour" of rapper Iggy Azalea has been fraught with issues, not just with the stars included in the tour itself but even the production. A report from eonline.com states that the tour has been hit with production delays and now Nick Jonas has come forward to confirm the tour's cancellation.
The former member of the Jonas Brothers tweeted, "Unfortunately, I'm not able to join the rescheduled Great Escape Tour, but you will get to see me this spring, details coming!"
Now in an interview with Seventeen magazine, Azalea confirmed that her tour has been cancelled. She said, "I've had a different creative change of heart. I want to start totally anew and if I stayed on my tour, that would mean I wouldn't even be able to start working on that until after Christmas."
"On top of that, mentally, to be honest with you, I just feel I deserve a break. I've been going non-stop for the past two years, nearly every single day. I'm not in a bad place. I think sometimes when you say you need a mental break, people are like, "' mental break? Be sure you don't have a breakdown because you're sad.'"
She added, "It's very emotionally draining to be on all the time and going all the time, planning all the time. It's a lot and it's tough. I need a break from everything to just enjoy what I worked so hard for, and I don't really feel I've had a chance to do that, " as quoted by reported on smh.com.au.
What she did not mention was the controversies surrounding her success, as reported on eurweb.com. This includes a furor over the Billboard Music Awards she had won, which was well-documented on Twitter. There was even a change.org petition seeking to retract her win as Top Rap Song for the said awards body. She also had issues with her social media accounts, often being entangled with netizens, most notably other artists such as Azealia Banks.
