Justin Bieber pleaded guilty to careless driving and assaulting a reporter charges last June 4, Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General confirms to EW.
Although Bieber, who was in Los Angeles, was not present in person to attend the verdict, he was there via video link wearing a white dress shirt standing respectfully while listening to the judge in Ontario. Bieber pleaded guilty and was fined $750 to the careless driving charge, which is a rather feeble bargain for receiving an absolute discharge.
Hollywood Reporter explains that the unfortunate charges stemmed from a 2014 accident when the popular singer along with his ex girlfriend Selena Gomez, crashed his ATV into a minivan driven by a paparazzo in Stratford, Ontario. Suddenly, cameras were all over and Bieber reacted badly which resulted into a physical squabble with the driver.
During that time, Brian Greenspan, Bieber's lawyer said that his client was regrettably disrupted by the unwelcome presence of paparazzi. Justin and his girlfriend were in a peaceful retreat and the paparazzi just went out of their way.
Bieber also sent his reaction in a tweet about the accident, "There should be laws against what I just experienced. We should have learned from the death of Princess Diana, I don't have a problem with Paparazzi but when they act recklessly they put us all in danger." It must be remembered that Princess Di was running away from paparazzi's when her car crashed in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris, France in 1997.
Selena was not available for comment about the good news about her ex. After all, Bieber got the better end of the bargain when all charges were dropped when he pleaded guilty. It also made him look better in abiding by the law.
