Famous filmmaker Joss Whedon is said to have been interested in creating movies for the DC Comics characters Batman and Wonder Woman, as reported by ComicBookMovie.com.
Reports state that Whedon has made it clear during the promotion of his latest movie "Avengers: Age of Ultron" that the movie's sequel will be his last Marvel movie for the probable future. He also told IGN a few weeks ago that he is more than ready to make DC comics adaptation. He considers himself as a "Marvel kid" growing up but says he desperately wants to do a Batman and Wonder Woman film, given that he's "DC-curious."
Wonder Woman was a movie which the filmmaker was hired to develop back in 2005; however, the project was never finished. According to the Business Insider, Whedon left the project and Warner Bros. went on to create a Wonder Woman film with a different director. What went wrong according to Whedon was that he had "an outline and not in a draft" and the studio executives did not really like it.
Most recently, it was reported that Whedon doesn't seem interested in working on the movie anymore and taking it from director Michelle MacLAren. "I'm excited to see it so I just want them to make it so I can see it!" he said, as quoted by ComicBookMovie.
Additionally, Batman was another DC comic Whedon was passionate about. He was reportedly one of the many filmmakers who have pitched Batman ideas to Warner Bros. He said that his "heart was on the table" and was "so into it" but he reportedly felt that it seems like his vision didn't fit what the executives wanted in the film.
Whedon is an American screenwriter, film and television director and producer. He is also the founder of Mutant Enemy Productions and also the co-founder of Bellwether Pictures. He is best known for creating the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" from 1997 to 2003 and his latest blockbuster hit, "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
