Marvel Movies Update: ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ To Crossover With ‘Fantastic Four?’ Poster Hints At 2019 Spinoff

There are reports that "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Fantastic Four" could potentially crossover sometime in the near future, that is, if 20th Century Fox wants to be able to compete with Disney/Marvel's and Warner Bros./DC's recent collaborations.

Disney/Marvel previously released two "Avengers" installments that featured a range of their superheroes, including Captain America, Iron Man and The Hulk. Warner Bros. and DC will also release a major team-up movie titled "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" next year. According to Design N Trend, the most obvious option that 20th Century Fox has at the moment is to pool together two of its biggest superhero movies, which are "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Fantastic Four."

Reports that 20th Century Fox is planning to create a spinoff that will combine characters from both films is further heightened after film producer Simon Kinberg said that they eventually want Fox to become like Marvel.

Meanwhile, Daily Beast reported that a spinoff could actually be in the works after an email written by Michael de Luca was leaked online.

Last October, de Luca's email to Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal revealed that the former has learned directly from Kinberg that 20th Century Fox will be working on a team-up movie for both "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" franchises. At that time, de Luca suggested to Pascal that they create a similar move that would link together "Spider-Man" to a female-led "Spider-Man" movie that will feature Venom and Sinister Six.

"Kinberg told me fox is steering Xmen and Fantastic Four into an eventual team up film. Seems to me maybe, since the Spider-man universe itself is deep, you guys should look at sinister six, new spidey female movie and venom as linked pieces leading to eventual mega movie ala Feige and Fox and not stand alone single films," de Luca wrote at that time.

In other news, a fan-made poster featuring the possible collaboration between "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" was recently shared on Twitter. According to Twitter user @jhowsaint, the movie could be released sometime in 2019, if it were to push through.
