"New Girl" has been renewed for Season 5, but fans are wondering how lead star Zooey Deschanel could reprise her role as Jess now that she's pregnant with her first child. According to KPopStarz, the filming schedule of "New Girl" will not change that much due to the actress' pregnancy.
Originally, Deschanel was supposed to miss the first four episodes of "New Girl." However, the premiere for Season 5 has been moved to midseason, so the actress will only miss one episode, TV Line reported.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that the feel of "New Girl" will be somewhat different from its first four seasons after Coach (Damon Wayans Jr.) left the series once again. Additionally, Season 5 will feature a lot of changes, especially with Deschanel's real-life pregnancy.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, series creator Elizabeth Meriweather confirmed that the first episode of "New Girl" season 5 will be fittingly titled "No Girl" because Deschanel will not be around.
"I think in the first or second season, it would have been hard, but now it feels like this is a creative opportunity to learn more about the other characters. And it's a little bit of a challenge. People are going to be asking, 'How are they going to pull this off?'" Meriweather told the publication. The series creator added that she also asks herself the same question and teased that "No Girl" will be an episode for the guys.
"I directed the first episode without Zooey, that's the last one we shot this year, and it's really funny. It's a guys' episode. It's an opportunity to stretch ourselves...Or it will be a total disaster and she'll come back," she explained.
In other news, Deschanel is enjoying her first pregnancy and she previously said that she wouldn't be one of those actresses who will get pressured to lose weight immediately after giving birth.
