‘The Girl On The Train’ Movie Casting Update: Emily Blunt In Talks To Star As Rachel Watson In Film Adaptation?

Emily Blunt is reportedly in talks to star in the movie adaptation of Paula Hawkins' novel, "The Girl on the Train." According to Yahoo News, director Tate Taylor is offering a major role to the actress. Blunt may play the role of "The Girl on the Train" lead narrator, who is a jobless alcoholic dealing with her recent divorce.

In order to cope with her recent heartbreak, Rachel Watson rides the train daily and fantasizes about the seemingly perfect couple named Jason and Jess. Rachel sees the couple's relationship as a representation of something that she once had in her life, NPR reported.

However, Rachel doesn't really know Jason and Jess personally. In fact, she only sees them every time she rides the train in the morning or at night time. The couple, whose real names are Scott and Megan, happen to be the new owners of Rachel's old house before she became an alcoholic.

As of late, Blunt has not yet confirmed whether or not she will be indeed playing the role of Rachel or Jess in the upcoming film produced by Marc Platt. However, as early as now, there are already speculations that her involvement in the film could give her a chance at the Oscars, Fashion N Style noted.

Meanwhile, "The Girl on the Train" went on to top the New York Times best-selling list for the past couple of weeks. The novel was also compared to "Gone Girl" because both stories were told from the perspective of a mysterious narrator. The book also sold approximately two million copies in the United States alone ever since it was first published in January by Riverhead Books.

Blunt will be next seen as the Snow Queen alongside Chris Hemsworth on "Snow White and the Huntsman." This coming fall, she will be appearing in "Sicario," a thriller that is being produced by Lionsgate.
