Celebrity Homes for Sale: '60 Minutes' Commentator's West Side Apartment Listed for $2.4M

The Upper West Side property of late commentator "60 Minutes," Andy Rooney, was recently listed in the market. The lowest offer is $2.385 million, according to a report from ny.curbed.com. The sale is being managed by his daughter Emily and is listed with agent Marcos Rada of Douglas Ellman Real Estate.

The said apartment is on the West End Avenue and features two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It also has a large kitchen featuring two ovens as well as a wet bar. The home has a foyer, a full dining room and eat-in kitchen, according to a report from 6sqft.com. The bedrooms are on a separate wing of the apartment, which has a hallway with closet space. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom, while the other one is reportedly larger than normal for the units built in the pre-war era.

The flat is estimated to measure 1,500 square feet, and the biggest part of the apartment was reportedly devoted to Rooney's hobby, woodworking, according to a report from wsj.com. While there are some personal memorabilia included in the listing photos, some items such as his personal typewriter would not be included in the sale. Among the pieces included in the sale, however, would be a dining room table and a pair of twin headboards, as confirmed by the apartment stager Barbara Brock of Sold with Style.

The home was purchased by Andy with his wife as a halfway home to be used alongside their actual home in Connecticut. When his wife passed away in 2004, he tended to stay more in the apartment as it was near his place of work, CBS Studio, according to a report from streeteasy.com. He was a mainstay of "60 Minutes" where he did social commentary for over three decades. The proceeds of the sale will reportedly be going to his heirs.
