Craigslist has since become the go-to site for finding goods, job listings, and other services such as housing rentals because of its large community. But did you know that the site has recently become home for scams and other dubious activities?
Don't fret. There are other better sites that offer the same services but do not come with the hassles of Craigslist. Curbed and Mashable have it covered for you:
1. eBay Classifieds
You enjoy similar benefits as in Craigslist and at the same time search in confidence with eBay brand's credibility. The site has same category listings, from job hunting to house rentals, and monthly ads of up to 150,000. They also recently updated the site's interface for a more user-friendly experience. The only thing you won't get is the personal ads feature, but this could either be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your needs.
2. Realtor.com
If you are looking for a specific type of amenity, realtor.com is the website to checkout. Their search engine has specific filters like by number of bedrooms and bathrooms, a dog-friendly listing, and a listing of properties with swimming pool, among all others.
3. Zillow
Zillow offers unique features making it one of the best online real estate tools out there. A certain feature on the website would surely be helpful for parents. In Zillow, you can map the schools that are around the District and even filter what kind they are (e.g., charter, elementary). They even have the school rating feature which should suggest the quality of education in each school.
4. Bozzuto
Looking for apartments in specific neighborhoods is made easy with Bozzuto. The website allows you to just click on a certain neighborhood and this would bring you to various residential developments around the area, and from there, compare the types and prices of different rentals. An added benefit is a clear list of the different features and amenities that the developments have to offer.
5. Apartments.com
Aside from seeing all the listing in map form, Apartment.com lets you draw exactly on the part of the map you would like to search for listing. You can use the site's Polygon tool to help if there are areas of the District you want to avoid for an easier search experience.
