Siri, Apple's digital assistant, is now smarter as Apple has announced yesterday in the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco that a major upgrade was done to make Siri more intelligent.
A report from Yahoo said that Apple has turned Siri into a "Proactive Assistant," which can actually study the user's usage behavior, make suggestions, as well as predict a user's next move. The newly updated Siri can create and pull calendar reminders in user's electronic mails, which is similar to Google's predictive assistant Google Now.
As a "Proactive Assistant," Siri can learn and respond to a user's query based on predictive settings. For instance, when a headphone is plugged into an an iPhone, Siri will automatically launch the Music application and display the music tracks on the screen.
Siri also reportedly has an improved photo searching capabilities as it can now locate photos using specific locations and dates embedded in each. Dubbed as intelligent-driven, Siri will be able to search for items even within applications, giving users a link of the search results instantly.
An added feature to Siri, according to Macworld, is the capability to extract photos and videos in Apple devices. Siri can also recall instructions and reiterate reminders as instructed. Accordingly, a new picture-in-picture feature was also developed by Apple that allows users to watch movies while browsing, which is quite similar to the Android platform.
Moreover, Apple's new iOS 9 brags its newly improved native searching application, the Spotlight. Citing from the same website, Spotlight now supports various video streaming websites such as YouTube, Vevo and Vimeo, where users can watch movie clips directly via Spotlight search results. A more dynamic API was reportedly integrated in Spotlight to give specific and detailed results that link to the user's corresponding apps on the phone.
