After revealing the new mask of Ghostface, the new MTV Series "Scream" released another update with its recent trailer. The famous Ghostface is going to haunt viewers again, this time in the small screen. MTV hopes that the reboot series will scare the fans and produce a hit. The trailer, which was released on Monday, pays tribute to the original "Scream" film while attempting to leave its own mark on the iconic horror franchise.
According to International Business Times, the trailer has the same opening scene from the original 1996 "Scream." It shows a young woman named Nina played by Bella Thorne who is being taunted by Ghostface through her phone. She then panics when she finds her boyfriend's severed head in the pool. The trailer also shows clips of the rest of the cast including Willa Fitzgerald as Emma, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Audrey, Carlson Young as Brooke, Amadeus Serafini as Kieran, John Karna as Noah, Connor Weil as Will, Tracy Middendorf as Maggie and Jason Wiles as Sheriff Hudson.
Last week, the creators also revealed the new face of Ghostface's mask. The look is said to be much more similar to Jason Voorhees' from "Friday the 13th" films and Michael Myers from the "Halloween" franchise, as reported in the same website.
One of the key differences of the film and the series, according to ComingSoon.net, is the new generation Ghostface uses technology to taunt its victims. In the TV show, Ghostface uses iMessage and sends one-liner messages as well as some unsettling surveillance videos.
The plot of the series, which is directed by Jamie Travis, is about a cyber-bullying incident that results in a brutal murder, which triggers memories of a killing spree years ago and in turn somehow inspires a new killer. "Scream the TV Series" premieres June 30th on MTV. Watch the trailer below.
