The 'Fish in the Dark' Broadway artist appeared to attend the 2015 Tony Awards held in New York City; Rita Wilson is a real survivor!
She is so gorgeous in her form-fitting black dress with double-scoop neckline designed by Tom Ford. The 58-year-old looked so happy and healthy as she made her way on the red carpet with her son Colin Hanks right behind her.
A report from dailymail.co.uk showed the tweets of Rita Wilson from her Twitter account: "@ColinHanks, my son, and I @ The TonyAwards Just sat down! Great seats!"
Colin shared a photo and said, "I got to go to the Tonys as this lady's date. Much fun was had."
After the diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma, Wilson went on a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction in April, but according to her, she is now recovering.
"I feel great," she said in an interview on eonline.com. "When you do Broadway, you have a family there and one at home as well. I had so much love through the process. I'm very thankful." She also announced that she had "won" as she was no longer battling with the disease.
Wilson shows tons of hope and strength before her family and fans throughout the battle and her recovery with cancer.
"I am getting better every day and look forward to renewed health," she said.
She would like to encourage other women to get checked because "early diagnosis" is the key to win against breast cancer; this is why she decided to go public with her illness, hoping that this will inspire others to have a second opinion and believe in their instincts if they feel that something does not feel right.
She wants people to know that even though they go through life-altering experiences, this beautiful thing that we call life goes on. She said, "I know that not everyone will have this good fortune but I think it's important to let you all know that there are good stories. I hope this article is helpful in some ways to someone you know who may be dealing with a similar circumstance," quoted by dailymail.co.uk.
Just a few weeks after her surgery, Wilson announced that she would continue her role on stage in 'Fish in the Dark' and that she would be appearing on one of David Letterman's final late-night episodes as well.
