The track of Katy Perry believed to be a satirical innuendo to Taylor Swift 1989 album is a bogus. The alleged track entitled "1984" listed under the artist Perry on BMI's registration website is either fake or not Katy's.
Up until today, news are spreading that the alleged Perry song, 1984 was a reprisal at Swift's "Bad Blood" song which many interpreted as a dig at Perry.
In a statement to EW, Katy Perry's managers at Direct Management Group confirm that no such song was written, sang, or recorded by Katy, Time reports.
Turns out the song feud is merely a media hype.
Back in 2009, the two pop singers seemed to be close friends even merrily posing up together at the MTV Video Music Awards. The friction between the two started when Taylor expressed her dismay towards another female artist whom she thought was her friend. In an interview with Rollingstone Magazine last 2014, Taylor unreservedly conveyed her disappointment and disgust to someone who allegedly sabotage her entire arena tour. "She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it."
While Taylor never actually named Katy as the person whom she was referring to, a tweet from Katy following the release of the Rollingstone interview increased speculations that Taylor was referring to her, "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift describes her Bad Blood song as about another female artist who betrayed her, which apparently everybody construed to be her ex-pal Katy Perry. The lyrics of the song also tell about how bad blood developed between past lovers or friends because of rusted trust.
Katy initially kept quiet around Taylor's alleged public gibe on her but hinted that she will not bow down to the challenge. "If somebody is trying to defame my character, "you're going to hear about it." With those remarks, the public keenly awaits on how Perry will settle scores with Taylor and thus the fuzz with 1984.
