Kurt Cobain Documentary: '90 Percent Crap' says Buzz Osborne

Melvins frontman and Kurt Cobain's long time friend, Buzz Osborne, has hit out the latest documentary about the late Nirvana singer, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, saying its 90 percent bullsh*t.

Osborne, who is a close highschool pal of the Nirvana rocker knew him too well for him to call Cobain himself a liar in his documentary interviews as he recounted some of the major stories. Loudwire explains that Buzz was not only a friend but a strong influence to Kurt as an artist and musician.

"That's the one thing no one gets about Cobain. He was a master of jerking your chain."

Writing for Talkhouse, Osborne then goes on to write off some stories of Cobain. One such story is the "I tried to fuck a fat retard" story in which Cobain romantically pursues a developmentally challenged girl in high school. According to Osborne, that story is "not even an inkling of truth". He claimed that it would be impossible for him not to miss that story because "in a small-town shit-hole, exciting news of that nature would have been common knowledge before the sun set".

In another instance, Cobain's trying-to-kill-himself-on-the-train-tracks story is bullshit as well. While Osborne never explained the details about his dismissal, it nevertheless shelves any notion of Cobain's early suicidal tendencies.

Osborne added that Kurt told him that he was only making up his stomach problems to gain sympathy and to find an excuse to stay loaded. He vomits because he uses heroin. That's what heroin addicts do. It's called "vomiting with a smile on your face."

In closing, Osborne concludes that Nirvana completists will find the documentary interesting because it will definitely support their already twisted view of Kurt. However, he describes the whole film as "mostly misguided fiction".

For what it's worth, Osborne commends the film's cool animation. He also said that the film made a great job of portraying how a depressing shit-hole Aberdeen really was and still is.
