Carrie Bradshaw's four-story apartment might be one of the most iconic locations in American television. Looks can be deceiving, and this apartment on 64 Perry Street might not look as ordinary as it seems.
Popsugar reports that the rent-controlled property on Greenwhich Village actually contains a grander look. It was on the market for a couple of years ago with an astonishing $9.65 million price tag. After another two years, the property was again listed back in 2013 with a larger price. It was sold at $13.25 million, according to Curbed New York. Despite being just used as a backdrop for the famous television series, the property has become a tourist stop for 'Sex and the City' fans when visiting New York City.
According to Daily Mail, Carrie Bradshaw's pad has ten bedrooms with a 4,100 square-foot area. Talk about size! Its brownstone steps are said to be the official site of the blonde columnist's date kisses in the series' first three seasons, according to DNA via Daily Mail. Herringbone wood floors with inlaid borders, six fireplaces with carved marble mantels, and ceiling moldings are some of the apartment's stunning features, Popsugar reports.
Built in 1866, the property has only been occupied by two families when it was listed, according to Popsugar. Architect Robert Mook designed the famous TV home, reported E! Online, and a garden actually sits on the south end of the property. The designer of Carrie Bradshaw's apartment also has designed other houses on the block with his signature Italianate style. Sotheby's International Realty describes the property as located in one of the most coveted tree-line blocks at the center of the West Village landmark district.
Briefly using the property as facade for the series, the show's creators had to use neighbor 66 Perry Street as Carrie Bradshaw's official pad, according to Curbed New York. Until today, the stunning apartment is still a landmark that once upon a time Carrie Bradshaw walked on with her fabulous heels.
