'Halo 5: Guardians" Release Date, Story: Four Player Co-op Mode Revealed, Free DLC Maps Coming This Month

A recent update in Game Informer's "Halo 5: Guardians," the first Halo title for the Xbox One gaming platform, revealed that gaming studio 343 will add 15 free downloadable maps on top of the 20 multiplayer maps set to launch on October 15.

343 studio head Josh Holmes said in an IGN report, "When you have paid map packs and content, you divide the player base into two groups: the haves and the have-nots." Holmes, according to the same website, further explained, "The people that have the map pack can play together but the people who don't cannot. That to us is a real problem. So we're delivering all the maps to all players free so everybody will be able to play together. That, we feel, is really important to having a great multiplayer ecosystem."

Gamers can expect 15 complimentary DLC maps by June 2016, as noted in the IGN report. "Halo 5: Guardians," according to Holmes, was by far 343's "biggest investment" multiplayer game in its history as the game offers a unique game style with tons of contents that are aimed to improve the gaming experience.

In addition, the "Halo 5: Guardians" has introduced a Blue Team that will play a vital part in the Guardian's in-game campaign. The said team was reportedly spotted in "Halo 5" July cover, IGN reported. According to IGN, the Blue Team will basically allow players to do a four-player cooperative game play as squad members Chief will be able to issue orders to join in a combat. Unique loadouts are also designed to suit and enhance the combat abilities of the lead game's lead characters like the Chief, Linda, Fred, and Kelly.

According to reports, the game plot revolves around the Master Chief and Blue Team having been declared as AWOL by the military and will be pursued by Jameson Locke, "Halo's" Nighfall character, along with his Fireteam Osiris. Generally, the game will feature Osiris all throughout the "Halo 5: Guardian's" campaign. The game will be officially launched on October this year for Xbox One.
