'Apple TV' Update: Missing In Action Since 2007

It has been three years since the last time the public had a glimpse on Apple's TV. Everyone anticipated to at least getting an update or even a new product launch on the said TV on the recent Apple event, but once again, the elusive TV is a no-show, CNet reported. The TV was nowhere to be found amid all the battles that have been happening on the internet TV realm that could have pushed Apple TV's popularity if thrown in the mix.

Based on the report, CNet said that Apple Inc. is currently developing a new Apple TV box that will be launched in the upcoming Apple event. It will be the consumer electronics giant's newest offering on their Internet-delivered television arm. Apple also trimmed down its streaming media box from $99 to $69 which is a sign that they are starting to weed out old stocks to pave way for its newest product.

On the other hand, the slash might mean another thing. The cut might signify that they wanted to be competitive, with regards to pricing, with their competitors in this area. Nonetheless, even without any new marketing plans or new service in place, the internet-based TV service is still strong in its own.

Time also published an article on Apple TV's MIA and ponders on why it has dwindled down despite the extravagant buildup of the product in 2007. They also hit Apple on their decision in spending huge loads of money to develop and launch a very expensive watch but no update on a more bankable product such as the Apple TV.

The online news magazine is also concerned on the timing of Apple TV's development and upcoming launch as it might already have lost its strong grip since it was launched a couple years ago and it might not deliver what is expected of it.

But it remains to be seen.
