In the recent trailer of 'Ricki and the Flash', Meryl Streep shows the coolness and drawbacks of being a rock star mom.
In a story of Huffingtonpost, while having Meryl Streep for a rockstar mom may sound awesome, it may not be so for her character's kids in the upcoming film, "Ricki and the Flash."
The upcoming comedy drama movie, Ricki and the Flash is a story about a passionate rock musician who gave up everything including her family for her dream of rock-and-roll stardom. She returns home to patch things up with her children and make things right one last time.
Streep plays as Ricki Rendazzo, the free spirited rocker who left her family for her music and to live a rock-and-roll lifestyle. Ricki returns home to comfort her daughter Julie (played by Streep's real-life daughter Mamie Gummer) who faces an emotional crisis following an imminent divorce. The movie also stars Kevin Kline as Ricki's ex-husband, Sebastian Stan as her estranged son, and Rick Springfield as a guitarist and member of Ricki's band.
In the trailer which can be seen in The Wrap, Streep wears a braided hair, leather boots, spandex complete with metal accessories. She nonchalantly carries a booze in the airport explaining the she needed it as a matter of fact. It also provided a sneak peak to Streeps rock singing skills.
In one dramatic scene, Rick Springfields yells to Streep, "It doesn't matter if your kids love you or not. It's not their job to love you but it's your job to love them". This essentially wraps up the dilemma that Ricki bears as a rockstar mom.
'Ricki and the Flash' is directed by Jonathan Demme and written by Diablo Cody. The movie opens in theaters on August 2015.
