In October this year, the world's gaming convention will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Center in New Orleans, Louisiana that will feature two of biggest games in the entire universe today, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and DOTA 2. However, the biggest revelation of The Major League Gaming World Finals is the prize that players can take home, a whopping half a million dollars, by far the largest purse in a video game competition, IGN reported.
The upcoming event is also a milestone for The Major League Gaming as it will mark their 100th event. MLG also counts on their ultra-massive number of followers. The event also takes pride on their 50,000 and counting live event competitors, roughly 45 million matches played by 10 million registered players, and a $13.5 million prize money.
Participant Valve also announced that DOTA 2 International Championships will feature a massive $11.6 million prize pool, funded by fan purchases of The Compendium.
WDSU also covered the story and had the chance to sit down with MLG president and co-founder, Mike Sepso. Sepso said that they have been hosting incredible events for the past decade and has given out huge amounts of money on prices. He also added that they intended to make this even bigger and better to honor MLG's 100th event mark.
On the other hand, New Orleans' mayor said on a separate interview that the city is happy to host the 2015 Major League Gaming World Finals and New Orleans will continue to host some of the world's best events. He added that they will make sure that these events will be a wonderful experience for participants and residents alike.
The MLG event will happen in October 16 - 18 and fans can either go to the event or watch it online.
