The police officer who was caught on video wrestling an African-American girl to the ground has resigned from the police force, BBC reported. The video that was filmed on Friday in McKinney caught Texas Police Corporal, David Eric Casebolt, pinning 15-year-old girl, Dajerria Becton, to the ground with his knees. The report said that the officer has responded to a disturbance call at a pool party.
After the incident, the Texas Police Department has put Casebolt on an administrative leave that later on prompted locals to rally at the scene of the incident and demanded Casebolt to be dismissed.
On a press conference on Tuesday, Greg Conley, McKinney's police chief said that Casebolt's actions were indefensible. He said that the police force training did not support Casebolt's actions in the video. Conley also said that Casebolt was out of control all throughout the incident. Out of the 12 officers who responded to the call, only Casebolt acted beyond what was thought during the training.
The seven-minute video also showed Casebolt swearing at some African-American youths up to a point where he pointed his gun at them.
But the most disturbing scene that was caught on tape is the way Casebolt handled the 15-year-old girl who is by 10 times defenseless against Casebolt. He was seen dragging the girl into the ground by her arm and eventually pinned the girl in the back using his knee.
Yahoo also confirmed that the incident is under investigation and up to this point the police force is still investigating if there are charges that Casebolt need to face due to the incident. The police department also confirmed that a lone charge was pressed against a man for interfering with an officer and evading arrest.
Casebolt has resigned after 10 years of service and according to his lawyer, Casebolt is now outside the state for security reasons.
