According to recent reports, the multi-awarded composer and songwriter Alan Menken along with lyricist, Sir Tim Rice, revealed that he has created three new songs for the upcoming "Live Action Beauty and the Beast" movie.
In Cross Map's report, Menken also added that he will be using some of the songs from the 1991 Disney animated film. Unfortunately, he also said that he was not able to add songs from the Broadway production, saying, "The song I would have fit in from the Broadway show is 'If I Can't Love Her,' but the Beast's moment in the film is a much later moment, it would not be 'if I can't love her,' it's 'I love her but -damn it- I'm letting her go.' That lyric wouldn't really work with that music. So we wrote another song called 'Forever More,' like 'I now know what love is.'" Menken did not reveal more information about the songs.
"Live action Beauty and the Beast" has a star-studded cast that includes Emma Watson, who will play the beautiful Belle; Dan Steven, who will be playing the cursed Beast; Luke Evans, who will be playing Gaston; Josh Gad as Le Fou, Gaston's faithful sidekick; Sir Ian McKellen, who will be playing the castle's majordomo; Ewan McGregor, who will play Lumière; and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson, who will be playing Mrs. Potts.
In Broadway World's report last month, it was said that the cast and crew will start to shoot the much-awaited movie on May 18 in London. "Live Action Beauty and the Beast" is directed by Bill Condon and the script is written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky. The movie is expected to be released in March 2017.
