The latest animated film from Pixar, "Inside Out," which is set for release on June 19, has just made its Hollywood premiere on June 9, and with it come initial reviews of the movie as well as reports of a new iOs app. According to an early review, the film is "perhaps the cleverest and certainly the richest story" Pixar has ever come up with.
Bob Strauss of Los Angeles Daily News has high praises for "Inside Out" for its unique storyline that perfectly combines laughs and tears, brilliant design, and amazing voice cast led by Amy Poehler. According to Strauss, there's never been a movie "this wise and open-minded about what we choose to call negative emotions. There certainly hasn't been one as open-hearted." He also gave a tip to moviegoers: "Don't leave when the closing credits start."
Meanwhile, a new report states that Disney Publishing Worldwide has released an app called Inside Out: Storybook Deluxe for iOS devices. According to SocialTimes, the app is an "interactive retelling" of the animated film and includes secondary activities for children and adults that involve the movie's characters: Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The app allows users to read on their own, read via a narration or even record their own voice. Short clips from the film are also reportedly showcased in some of the interactive elements of the app.
The "Inside Out" Hollywood premiere was attended by the film's stars such as Amy Poehler (Joy), Phyllis Smith (Sadness), Mindy Kaling (Disgust), Lewis Black (Anger), and Bill Hader (Fear). The event showcased some elements from the movie such as the mind headquarters as seen in the film, the infamous broccoli pizza, a bouncy house, and a hockey station. Other Hollywood celebrities who graced the premiere include singer Pink and her daughter, Tori Spelling, Lewis Black and more. The premiere was held in El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
"Inside Out" was directed by Academy Award winner Pete Doctor, who also directed "Up" and "Monsters, Inc." The film's release date is set on June 19.
