Weird as it may sound; filmmaker Paul Feig gives the Ghostbusters an unusual twist, a parallel universe, if you may. Feig recently confirmed, through Hollywood Reporter, that current Blockbuster Queen, Melissa McCarthy, has agreed and signed to star in the upcoming all-female Ghostbusters remake. Feig also said that he is currently in negotiations to get the services of the hilarious Kristen Wiig and SNL mainstays Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
The Ghostbusters reboot has been in the pipeline for the longest time but failed to move on due to some fall outs along the way. One of the roadblocks that hindered the film to progress is Bill Murray's elusiveness in reprising his role as one of the fab four. The initial stage was fast since the original director Ivan Riteman and 3 of the main characters Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson have agreed to play their respective roles once again. Unfortunately, Ramis died along the process that prompted Reitman to withdraw from the film, which made the film stumbling back to square one.
After Reitman's departure, Feig was approached to continue where Reitman has left off. Feig agree to continue to dream but in one condition, it's going to be an all-female Ghostbusters.
In relation to the somewhat unconventional remake, Janine the secretary may be rebooted not as a geeky-high-pitched four-eyed lass but a hunk that is a big fan of mighty hammers and tight pants. Cinemablend said that Feig has hinted via Twitter that the Australian Hunk slash Thor, Chris Hemsworth, might get the role of the fab four's secretary.
According to sources, if every prospect will be inked to paper, Ghostbusters will start filming this summer. However, Hemsworth will have to work on his filming schedule as the mighty Thor will also be filming The Huntsman.
