ISIS Sells Women and Girls for a Pack Of Cigarettes

The notoriety of Jihadist terrorist, ISIS, is once again brought to highlight, this time by selling women into sexual slavery, according to a UN envoy.

In a report by Huffingtonpost, Zainab Bangura met with a group of women and girls who had been victimized by ISIS. They were the lucky few who have escaped the territories controlled by the insurgent group. According to Bangura, the abducted women told her they were kept in poky cells and are sexually abused by the militants. Some girls are sold to slave markets for as low as a pack of cigarettes. One 15-year-old girl raped by an ISIS leader even ridiculed her desire to commit suicide. 'I didn't buy you so that you could kill yourself'," said the perverted leader.

"This is a war that is being fought on the bodies of women," said Bangura.

In a related story by The Guardian, the abducted women which included young teenage girls were mostly from the Yazidi minority. They are locked up in cramped rooms and are stripped naked and washed while one man watches to determine how much each is worth.

The Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham or ISIS for short has been abducting women in the territories that occupied to operate a slave trade. This is part of the ISIS strategy to attract and recruit foreign young men to join them. "We have women waiting for you, virgins that you can marry," Bangura said. The Islamic extremist has institutionalized sexual violence against women which forms an integral part of their ideology and operations.

The UN has constantly condemned the use of sexual violence by ISIS and is sending a technical team to the region to help the victims of sexual violence. Aside from protection, the women also needed counselling and support for them to cope with their trauma and suffering.
