Marvel recently announced the official licensees in conjunction with its next comic book-based movie project, "Captain America: Civil War." The announcement, according to a report from variety.com, comes after the last movie of the studio, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" grossed $1.35 billion in global box office sales.
The unveiling includes different products: apparel, accessories, core toys, consumer electronics, costumes, collectibles, food, sporting goods, seasonal goods, party goods, stationery, and home furnishings, among others. These goods will carry the official Marvel and "Captain America" logos and signs emblazoned on their cover and other packaging.
The companies with licensing authority to use the "Captain America: Civil War" image and other products include Hasbro, Inc, Lego, Hot Wheels, C-Life, Jay Franco, Rubies, Mad Engine, Global Brand Group, Hallmark, Kellogg's as well as American Greetings. Their products will be showcased at the Licensing Expo 2015 in Las Vegas a few weeks before the movie hits the big screen in the U.S. and other cities throughout the world.
According to a report from pulse.ng, Disney Consumer Products Senior Vice President of Licensing for Marvel Paul Gitter said, "The Avengers team is both aspirational and hugely merchandisable, made up of multiple, unique heroes coming together with amazing skills, cool vehicles and a high tech headquarters. 'Captain America: Civil War' not only gives us new storytelling for our favorite superheroes but also introduces new ones, allowing us to expand product lines for kids and fans."
One of the major areas for expansion for the licensed products, according to a report from primetime.unrealitytv.co.uk, is the "big focus on adult female apparel," which will probably include Black Widow's jumpsuit. Other heroes would also see their apparel upgraded, with War Machine, Vision, Falcon and the Black Panther coming to fore in the latest movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
