Consumers who are interested in the Huawei watch will have to wait a little longer as the device's launch was delayed to September or October due to reported incompatibility issues.
Wareable reports that Huawei Watch is still being optimized for the Chinese market, and since the device is owned by a Chinese company, services might be part of the whole optimization process. The postponement of Huawei Watch product launch was announced by Huawei's head of smartphone division He Gang.
However, a report from Want China Times pointed out that Huawei Watch's incompatibility issues are directly related to Android Wear, saying the system has restrictions in China and consequently, the company has to replace Google's Android Wear system using its own platform to make it compatible with Huawei's Watch.
According to Wareable, smartphones running on Android are saleable in China but these smartphones with an "open" type of mobile operating systems do not rely much of its services to Google. It added that with such type of mobile OS, Huawei can do some sort of modifications in its services such as adding its own skins, which is impossible with Android Wear.
As soon as the Huawei Watch is available in September or October, it would be a different device with its hardware and software specifications entirely made in China. Huawei Watch is touted to be a "compact" circular smartwatch with a superb slim and stylish design.
The Huawei smartwatch, according to Wareable, is made of sapphire glass, which makes it scratch-resistant, and has a stainless unibody design. Aside from that, Huawei Watch sports an Amoled display of 1.4-inch 400 x 400 one with a PPI count of 286 and is powered by Qualcomm's 1.2GHZ processor running under 512MB of memory with a 4GB storage capacity.
Priced at $1,000, the Huawei Watch will be available in four colors: gold, silver or black with a leather and stainless steel strap options. In addition, it features a heart rate monitoring system with the usual gyroscope, barometer, accelerometer sensors.
