A few hours ago, Netflix tweeted that Season 3 of the show "Orange Is The New Black" has premiered six hours early. This news, as reported by Deadline, was announced at the OrangeCon, which is an invite-only fan event held in Manhattan.
According to Variety, the fan event was attended by some of the show's stars like Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman), Uzo Aduba (Suzanne 'Crazy Eyes' Warren), Laverne Cox (Sophia Burset), Laura Prepon (Alex Vause) and more. It was reported that during the cast panel of the event, Aduba asked Netflix head Reed Hastings who they were talking to via a video call to let the fans in the said event get an early sneak peek of the first episode of Season 3. During the talk, Hastings reportedly smiled and took the request to the next level by announcing the show's early debut.
Hollywood Reporter states that the surprise reveal of the show was part of the first-ever fan gathering for the hit Netflix show. The OrangeCon was reportedly filled with the set replicas and booths that offered temporary tattoos, mugshot photo and a prison style cafeteria where they serve meat loaf, macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. Fans were also given a chance to ask for signed autographs and photo ops with the stars who were wearing orange accents and even full orange-colored jumpsuits for some.
PopSugar reported that the show has already been renewed for Season 4 and that the cast and crew will start shooting on Monday. The fourth season is said to air by 2016.
Season 3 Episode 1 of "Orange is the New Black" is titled "Mother's Day." According to a recap by Arts Beat, the episode is about a celebration of Mother's Day, with children visiting prisoned mothers. However, a missing child prompts an alarm to be raised inside the prison, which ends the celebration in a horrifying way. The episode is also filled with flashbacks of the characters from when they were a child. With the celebration, the drama between Piper and Alex was reportedly set aside.
